The performing arts program supported by Shaw, will allow young people the chance to focus on developing their dance, drama and music skills alongside a high school curriculum. It is designed to be an engaging way to develop skills and keep students active in their school and community. Our primary goal is to help students prepare for performing arts opportunities beyond the high school level and to give students a more comprehensive academic and artistic support.
We are proud to have the support of the Shaw Festival, which has created top-notch, engaging performance art since 1962. The Shaw is known for its exceptional acting and innovative theatre designs and they have committed to partnering REIA with professional theatre directors, actors and musicians in order to offer a cutting edge youth theatre program in our community.
Students studying in the program will work on method acting, dance training, character development and expanding a repertoire of emotions and experiences. They will also be learning to problem solve, plan and develop their creativity. Learning in a high school environment allows us to incorporate collaboration and build an emphasis on attention, teamwork and self-confidence. Our goal is for students to believe in their own success.
